Knowing Him – Encouragement from Karen Pulley

Dear Ladies,

Did you know the Jewish people do not begin praying until they have recited and rehearsed most of the characteristics of God for the first fifteen minutes? Wow, I can’t even imagine how that would change our prayer life!

Names, attributes and characteristics of God reveal the fullness of who our God is, and at best, we’ve just scratched the surface. As we get to know Him in this way, our focus moves:

from the problem to the problem solver,
from chaos to the One who calms the storms,
from the unknown to the One who is all knowing,
from fearfulness to fruitfulness and
from sorrow to song.

Just think how our prayers would change if we remember all He is and all He does. This would probably reduce our prayer life to much praising and peace. So before you even start praying, recall as many attributes as you can.

As you look at these attributes (see link below), recite and study them. You will find that God is enough. His presence will go with you and will be all you need.

Will you join me in making the lyrics of an old song your prayer?

“The greatest thing in all my life is knowing You. I want to know You more, I want to know You more, because the greatest thing in all my life is knowing You.” (“Greatest Thing”)

We would see Jesus,

Karen Pulley
