The Greatest Love Story Known to Man

CCOB Women Newsletter
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined... For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end…The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. (Isaiah 9:2, 6-7)

Do you marvel at the depth of His mercy, the riches of His grace, the scope and magnitude of His life and His love?

He became —A nursing baby, A dependent toddler, A youthful boy, A teenager to adulthood, and all that entails!

33 years…
He lived
He suffered
He died
AND He rose again!

The Word (Jesus) became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1), and we beheld His glory, the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14), that we may be fully assured of so great a Love!

Love does not define God! God defines love for us! We do not know this love until we truly contemplate, deeply, of the sacrificial love of God expressed through the cross of Christ for humanity!

Agape is the Greek word for God’s Love and is described as a love that sacrificially gives of itself to seek the highest good in the object loved! WOW!

He created and formed us (in His image—eternal beings) in our mother’s womb (Psalm 139) and breathed into our nostrils the breath of life (Genesis 2:7). His resurrection–our blessed assurance of life more to come!

Think of this, in the eternal counsels, before the world began, it was the Love of the Father to birth forth the universe that He may prepare a habitable place for His children. Yet, it would come at a great cost, a cost He was not only willing to pay, but prepared to do it!

The eternal counsel understood the great cost of bearing children...

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God. (1 John 3:1)
For whosoever believes in Him… (John 3:15)

When I look at my life, all that surrounds me, all those I know and love, and the closer I walk with our Lord, the more aware I am of our frailties and deficiencies, and how easily we fail to truly live for and glorify God, the more I marvel at the depth of His mercy, the riches of His grace, the scope and magnitude of His life and His love – for me – past, present, and future!

May we never lose the wonder of our Savior!

In His Love,
